How to use your Saily eSIM in Turkey: what to expect and how to prepare?

Introduction

Traveling to Turkey with a Saily eSIM? This guide explains everything you need to know about using Saily in Turkey, including how to install your eSIM before you travel, what to do if the Saily app won't load, how to check your data balance, and how a VPN can help you access the app. Following these steps ensures uninterrupted mobile data during your trip.

Before you start

  • Install and activate your Saily eSIM on your device before you arrive in Turkey. Due to technical restrictions outside of Saily's control, we cannot guarantee that the Saily app and website will be stable in Turkey. However, your eSIM will work for internet access without interruptions if it was installed before arrival.
  • Consider enabling top-up before you travel, so you can add data even if the app becomes inaccessible while in Turkey.
  • Turkey is a supported destination, included in the Ultra, Unlimited, Europe regional, Middle East and North Africa regional, Single-destination, and Global plans. Saily voice services are also supported in Turkey.

Here's what to do

Install your eSIM before traveling (recommended)

  1. Open the Saily app and go to the Home tab.
  2. Tap Install eSIM, then select On this device.
  3. When prompted to activate a new eSIM from "Saily" or "Webbing," tap Continue.
  4. Wait a few minutes for setup to complete.
  5. Confirm you see the message that the mobile plan setup is complete and the eSIM is active.

If you didn't install before arriving(manual installation workaround)

  1. Check the email address registered to your account for a message with the subject line "Hey, it's time to set up your eSIM!"
  2. Follow the detailed manual eSIM installation instructions in that email.
  3. If you did not receive this email, contact our support team.

If the Saily app or website won't load (including top-up, buying more data, or payments)

Due to local technical restrictions, you may be prevented from accessing the Saily app and website while in Turkey. If you have an active VPN service on your device:

  1. Connect to a country other than the one you are currently located in.
  2. Try accessing the Saily app or website again.

How to check your data balance without the app

Because local restrictions may block the app, check your data usage directly in your device settings:

On iOS:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to Mobile Service (or Cellular).
  3. Scroll to find data usage for the Saily eSIM under Cellular Plans. You can reset the statistics to monitor usage more closely if needed.

On Android:

  1. Open Settings and go to Connections (or Network & internet).
  2. Tap the Saily eSIM to see data usage for the current period, including total data consumed. If your device allows it, you can reset the statistics or set a data limit.

If these steps don't resolve your issue, or you need to check your exact data balance, please get in touch with our support team.

If you have no internet at all on the Saily eSIM

  1. Confirm whether the issue is with the internet overall (no apps or websites load) or only with accessing the Saily app/website. Continue only if nothing is loading.
  2. Confirm the eSIM was installed before arriving. It may be labeled "Business," "Mobile Data," "Secondary," "Personal," "Travel," "Saily," or "Webbing." If you used Saily before, the new plan could be under the old eSIM. If the eSIM was not installed before arriving, please get in touch with our support team.
  3. Make sure the Saily eSIM is enabled in device settings (on Android, via SIM Manager or SIMs).
  4. Enable data roaming for the Saily eSIM. On iOS: Settings → Mobile Service (or Cellular) → select the Saily eSIM  switch Data Roaming on. Data roaming with the Saily eSIM won't add extra charges from your primary SIM provider, but you'll need to use the Saily data plan.

If your refund link won't work

If the refund link does not open, load, or work correctly - or the refund page shows there is no internet connection - this may be caused by local technical restrictions. Please get in touch with our support team so we can help complete your request.

Additional tips

  • Enable top-up before your trip so you can add data even if the app is inaccessible in Turkey.
  • Keep a VPN installed and ready before you travel, as it is the primary workaround for accessing the app or website while in Turkey.
