This guide explains how Apple's "Hide My Email" feature works when signing up for services like Saily and shows how to find both the unique address it creates and the personal email it's linked to.
What is Apple's "Hide My Email"
"Hide My Email" is a privacy feature from Apple available to users with an iCloud+ subscription. Instead of giving a website or app your real email address, Apple creates a unique, random alias for you.
An address created by "Hide My Email" will look something like this:
abcd1234@privaterelay.appleid.com
How does Apple's "Hide My Email" feature work
Here's an example of how Apple's "Hide My Email" work:
- You sign up for a service (like ours) using the "Hide My Email" option.
Note: This feature is available exclusively to customers who sign up for Saily using the Continue with Apple option. - Apple generates a random @privaterelay.appleid.com email address.
- When we send an email to that email address, Apple automatically forwards it to your real, personal iCloud email inbox.
Why does this exist? It's for your privacy and security. It prevents companies from knowing your personal email address and helps reduce spam. If you start receiving unwanted emails through an alias, you can simply delete that alias without affecting your real email.
