Can I use Saily phone number for OTP and 2FA?

In this article, you will learn how a Saily phone number works with OTP (One-Time Password) and 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) verification, why some services may not accept it, and what to do if a service rejects your number.

Will my number work for verification codes (2FA)?

Your number is a real U.S. phone number assigned through the North American Numbering Plan (NANPA). It can make and receive calls and texts, and it's assigned only to you for as long as your service stays active.

Our numbers are provided through a carrier that uses internet-based (VoIP) network technology. Because of this, some apps and websites that check phone number types will identify your number as "VoIP" rather than "mobile." This describes the carrier's network, not your number's authenticity.

Most services send verification codes to our numbers without issue. However, some services, particularly certain banks, financial and payment apps, and platforms with strict security policies, do not accept VoIP numbers for verification. Those services set this policy, and we can't change it on their end.

What to do if a service doesn't accept your number

If a service doesn't accept your number, try the following:

  1. Check whether the service offers another verification method, such as an authenticator app, email, or passkey. These are often more secure than text codes anyway.
  2. Contact the service's support team and ask whether they can verify your account another way.
  3. Contact us at support@saily.com and let us know which service it was. This helps us improve compatibility.

Apps commonly reported as working (not exhaustive)

Compatibility can change at any time as services update their verification policies, and we don't control that. The lists below reflect commonly reported results and are not exhaustive or guaranteed. If a service you use isn't listed, or stops working, follow the steps above.
